Jen Johnson of Bethel Music has this amazing song, that emerged in 2014, In Over My Head(Crash Over Me). I love the song. When I’m listening, I often feel this song puts into words how I have felt several times in my life. And, quite honestly how I am feeling now. New territory is often scary. It comes in many forms. Sometimes a new territory in our life is a new ministry position or job. New territory can be an actual relocation, new city, state, home, neighborhood, school or college. Raising my tribe, new seasons that brought much toil, were those that were subtle; weaning to the cup, solid foods, a new tooth or teeth, new friends, new schools and the list goes on. But, honestly the most scary and life changing territories are the ones that Father asks you to embark on personally, the internal ones. New areas in our life are vital to our personal growth and victory. And quite honestly, if we aren’t experiencing new things- we aren’t growing.
The picture above, it’s simply beautiful. This young woman appears to be walking into this water, in faith. I’m currently researching the artists story on this piece. I want to hear their heart and give them credit for such a beautiful piece. I stumbled on the image and immediately fell in love with its message. As I study it, I put myself as the girl, wading on the shoreline of this large lake. It’s so open to interpretation- I love that. First, is it morning or dawn? Is she scared or excited? Has she been here before or is this lake brand new? Either way, either one of these scenarios are going to bring their growth. But there is one thing that is consistent, no matter her situation… the water is new. Let me explain, water flows, it’s always changing, whether it is an ocean, river, lake or pond, water is in constant change, flowing freely or evolving with algae. Water is a living element, H2O. Water is fascinating. God truly new what He was doing. For this woman, if she had been here before or not, the water and shifted the ground of this body between her visits or it was brand new earth to walk on to her. The life in the water had aged and reproduced. The shoreline has changed with time. New water. It is inevitable.
God has been challenging me to some new areas in my life. This year I will be 50, I’m really excited about this. No, really!
Hope you pick up a ton of followers.
